While brainstorming with Cervantes Ramirez of New York City bar The Ship, Powell created cocktails using the Spanish fortified wine sherry. This cocktail tastes similarly to Spanish sangria.
INGREDIENTS
- Handful of fruit, such as orange slices, lemon slices, lime slices, blackberries, and cherries, plus more for garnish
- 1 Tbsp. jam
- 3½ oz. dry sherry
- 3 ice cubes
- Dash of Angostura bitters
DIRECTIONS
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the handful of fruit with the jam to press out all of the juices. Add the sherry and ice cubes and shake well. Strain into a tall, chilled highball filled with crushed ice. Garnish with the bitters and additional fruit.
