Sake Martini

This Japanese riff on the classic cocktail replaces vodka or gin with sake, an alcohol that predates the others by centuries.

Serves: 1 • Time: 5 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 oz. sake
  • Juice of ¼ grapefruit
  • 2 tsp. ginger paste
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • Ice

 

DIRECTIONS

In a cocktail shaker, combine the sake, grapefruit juice, ginger paste, and sugar. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until the sugar is dissolved, about 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled martini glass and serve.
