This easy salad is a favorite of Chef Nurdan Erdem, chef-owner of Enfes NYC and the curating chef for our Turkey Box. It is great on its own, or you can use it as a relish for dishes like balık ekmek, a fried or grilled fish sandwich with vegetables on Turkish pide bread.
Serves: 4 | Time: 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- 2 red onions
- 2 tsp. sumac
- 1 tomato
- 1 handful chopped parsley
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 lemon’s juice
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. red vinegar
DIRECTIONS
- On a cutting board, chop the red onions in half-moon slices
- Add into a bowl and and stir in 2 tsp. sumac
- Dice tomato and add to bowl.
- Add parsley.
- Stir in olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and red vinegar.
