5 New Ways to Use Curry Paste

Warm and flavorful, Thai curry dishes are invariably comforting. If you’re like us and can’t get enough of Nittaya’s curry paste from the Thailand Box, consider using it in other ways that go beyond the basic curry dish. We’ve got plenty of ideas to get you started.

1. Make a quick satay sauce

Combine equal parts red curry paste and peanut butter to make a delicious and ridiculously simple satay sauce. Add the mixture to noodles or grilled meats.

2. Stir into soups

Sweet and creamy soups, such as pumpkin or butternut squash, are delicious with curry flavor. Nittaya’s curry paste is also great mixed into chicken noodle soup.

3. Season roasted vegetables

Whisk curry paste into extra-virgin olive oil, brush the mixture onto vegetables, and roast in a hot oven until golden and slightly charred. Grilling vegetables at a high temperature gives them deeper flavor, as does the addition of fragrant curry paste.

4. Use it as a meat rub

The strong and savory flavors of Thai curries pair well with most every type of meat. Simply rub the curry paste onto your choice of meat (chicken, pork, beef—even shrimp—are all good options) before cooking it for a more intensely flavorful dish.

5. Turn it into syrup

That’s right! You can incorporate curry paste into a sweet syrup. Joe Murphy, the head pastry chef at the critically acclaimed Jean-Georges restaurant in New York City, uses lime juice, sugar, and a bit of yellow curry paste to create a sweet syrup whose delicate acidity and gentle heat pair well with coconut flavored desserts. Simply heat all three ingredients with equal parts sugar and water to make your own at home.
